چکیده

For improved prediction of reservoir distribution and quality in the infill rift basins, it is paramount to characterize extent relative dominance simultaneously active depositional systems fed by axial transverse drainages, understand how these vary response geological controls. This study demonstrates integration seismic, wireline-log, core, petrographic heavy-mineral datasets, combined with existing palaeotopographic reconstructions, can be utilized spatiotemporal potential syn-rift associated sediment routes a lacustrine basin. In Eocene Dongpu Depocentre (Bohai Bay Basin, China), three distinct delta types are identified: footwall-derived coarse-grained fan deltas sand-rich deltas, that dominated siltstone fine sandstone. The basin fill arose from interaction tectonic, lake-level, climatic Sedimentological provenance analyses indicate predominance (>85%) over this elongate, asymmetrical graben. Locally, amalgamation was controlled presence intra-basinal highs, through their influence on sediment-delivery pathways, high rates supply caused overfill isolated depocentres. Texturally mature, well-sorted sandstones deltaic systems, which were sourced comparatively large catchments, attractive targets. By contrast, conglomerates poorly sorted have more limited potential. However, fans may serve as viable targets locally, where major hinterland drainages long sediment-transport distances. Identification position relay ramps seismic data recognition bedrock-incised drainage outlets footwall basement margin allow location units oversized deltas.

Plio-Pleistocene evolution of Bohai Basin (East Asia): demise of Bohai Paleolake and transition to marine environment

The Bohai Basin was transformed to an inner shelf sea hundreds of thousands years ago. This youngest land-sea transition participated in the significant modification of the distribution of fresh water, sediment fluxes and climate in East Asia, and played an important role in the origin of the Asian marginal seas. Here we present the results of a magnetostratigraphic investigation and propose a ...

Foreland basin systems

A foreland basin system is defined as: (a) an elongate region of potential sediment accommodation that forms on continental crust between a contractional orogenic belt and the adjacent craton, mainly in response to geodynamic processes related to subduction and the resulting peripheral or retroarc fold-thrust belt; (b) it consists of four discrete depozones, referred to as the wedge-top, forede...
